lyrics

In a sliver of the moon on a night like this
I saw a tiger and a woman on a precipice
they stood together all alone in the violent throes
her body naked hair whipping and her eyes half closed
She held him close to his body in the bluest night
she knelt beside him watching closely in the pale moonlight
for a minute I imagined her inside my life
the tiger stood with the snow falling from the sky

She knelt beside him with his life flowing through her veins
And sang a song that I knew no one had ever sang
As she sang in the sky I saw a brilliant flame, I heard the thunder and the waves calling out her name

she turned her eyes upon me and the tiger roared the tiger roared
she learned my whole life story in a metaphor, the tiger roared

suddenly the snow stopped and my heart did too
I held her gaze eyes level until she withdrew remember thinking this is beauty I had never known
A looking glass through which everything else was shown
the tiger stayed with his eyes look to the sea his stripes stood sentinel watching over me
a decade later I can still hear the crashing tide I see the woman through the years through the tigers eyes
